A Small Win on the Scoreboard—Waiting for Kick-Off

I received welcome news this week: our Parenting-Time Expeditor (PTE) confirmed that future sports registrations should start in the kids’ own school district, Becker. If a comparable program isn’t available there, we can look elsewhere—but only if both parents agree. To most families that may sound like a footnote. For us, it’s peace of mind.

Why it matters (my perspective):

  • The kids stay with their classmates and coaches they already know.

  • Practices and games are closer to home, which means fewer late-night drives.

  • Clear guidelines help prevent last-minute disputes over which town’s team is “best.”

The open question

One detail is still pending: my son was already enrolled in a neighboring town’s fall soccer program before this ruling. I’ve asked whether he can be moved to Becker under the new guideline or whether additional steps are required. I’m waiting on clarification and will follow whatever process the PTE sets out.

What I’m taking from this

Small procedural decisions can have a big impact on the kids’ everyday life. Even a single sentence in a ruling can remove weeks of uncertainty—and let the children focus on playing, learning, and just being kids. So I’m calling this a win, even as I wait for the final word on this season’s signup.

Still showing up means celebrating progress, documenting next steps, and staying patient until the final whistle.
